BOOK OF GREEN – iPhone app

The Book of Green is a free eco-living 84-page directory available in paperback, online and iPhone app formats. Here we will review the iPhone app but you can also read our review of the online directory.

The Book of Green iPhone app is available free from the App Store and kicks off with a list of the main directory headings which include Business Services, Eco Builds, Food & Drink, Recycling and much more. The app is very easy to use allowing you to browse through the categories which are then broken down into sub-sections. Once you have reached your category of choice, you are offered a list of the companies in that section, consisting of the company name and logo, their distance from you (if applicable) and a brief introduction. Simply clicking on one of interest will give you more information including contact details and the option to get a map or directions. The web address, email address and phone numbers are live so you can get in touch straight from the directory. You can sort the listings alphabetically or by their distance from you, which is useful if you are looking for a store/business to visit.

In addition you can visit Book of Green on Twitter, although I only got a blank page when I tried to access this, and there is also an eco news page.

This directory doesn’t of course contain every green company out there but it is a very useful resource and extremely handy if you are on the go. It is certainly easy to use and, especially as this is a free app, I would recommend it to anyone who may need this kind of directory to hand.
