Divine Fairtrade Chocolate

All Divine Fairtrade chocolate is fairly traded and sourced from Ghana. All their bars are suitable for vegetarians and some of the dark chocolate varieties are suitable for vegans.

We had five different 100g Divine Fairtrade chocolate bars to review, the Mint 70% Dark Chocolate, Dark Chocolate with Fruit & Nut, Orange Milk Chocolate, Hazelnut Milk Chocolate and White Chocolate with Strawberries. I prefer milk chocolate so took it upon myself to try the two milk chocolate varieties whilst others tested the dark and white chocolate products.

The Hazelnut Milk Chocolate consisted of small crunchy hazelnut flakes within smooth chocolate and was delicious! It is down to personal preference whether you like chunkier nuts in your chocolate but I liked the texture of this product. I am a particular fan of orange-flavoured chocolate, and was pleased that the Divine Orange Milk Chocolate did not disappoint. It was smooth with a lovely flavour.

The White Chocolate with Strawberries was described as ‘simply delicious’ consisting of lovely smooth, sweet white chocolate with the unusual strawberry crunch running through it. Being particularly sweet, however, this might not appeal to everyone.

It was felt that the Mint 70% Dark Chocolate would have benefited from stronger chocolate and mint flavours, although it was still perfectly tasty. The Dark Chocolate with Fruit & Nut, on the other hand, would have been preferred had it been milk chocolate as a better balance with the fruit and nuts.

Divine 100g Chocolate Bars costs between about 90p and £1.45 each depending on the flavour which are competitive prices when compared to similar products. The paper outer wrapper should be recyclable but the foil inner wrapper may be more difficult to recycle in many areas.

Thanks to Divine for providing us with samples of these products.
