The E-Cloth range of products includes general purpose cleaning cloths as well as those designed for specific household tasks. The E-cloths are made from tiny micro-fibres and are designed to clean effectively with just water, thus reducing chemical use in the home. We tried the General Purpose Cloth, the Glass & Polishing Cloth, the Kitchen Pack and the Hob & Oven Pack.
First of all I tried the General Purpose Cloth which can be used for wet cleaning or as a duster. I tried this one as a dry duster and found it to be really effective. The cloth picks up the dust rather than just moving it around and was easily rinsed clean after use.
The Kitchen Pack consists of a General Purpose Cloth and a Glass & Polishing Cloth along with a free laundry bag. The General Purpose E-Cloths are great for cleaning surfaces, leaving a virtually smear-free finish, and, as it apparently also removes bacteria, there is no need to worry about using chemicals. (An anti-bacterial cloth containing silver is also available if there are areas you are particularly concerned about). The Glass & Polishing Cloth is great for cleaning stainless steel appliances and cooker hobs, leaving my hob looking cleaner than it had in a while! It is recommended to use this E-Cloth dry and utilise a spray bottle to dampen the area. I didn’t have one so just dripped a little water onto the surface, but a spray bottle would be useful for these jobs (E-Cloth do have one available).
I also had the Hob & Oven Pack which doubles up a little with the Kitchen Pack as it contains a Hob & Oven Cloth and a Glass & Polishing Cloth. The Hob & Oven Cloth has one slightly toughened side which is great on dried-on spills, again just using water, with the other side for fresher drips or simple grease. You can then complete your hob with the Glass & Polishing Cloth for a shiny finish.
The individual Glass & Polishing Cloth I decided to try on my mirrors which often end up looking worse after cleaning due to the water marks. This cloth was brilliant, however, effortlessly leaving a completely smear-free finish, and I will certainly use it on my windows in future.
All-in-all I was very impressed with the E-Cloths, which have a very durable feel to them and were effective at cleaning. My personal favourite was the Glass & Polishing Cloth and I also found the General Purpose Cloth great for a variety of tasks around the home. These come in different colours too so you can keep a few for separate tasks. There are various individual as well as double packs available, with the RRP for single cloths at £4.88 and packs such as the Kitchen Pack priced at £8.80. These might be more expensive than many micro-fibre cloths, but they certainly felt like they would last forever (E-Cloth reckon on 300 washes), did a great job and there is no need to also buy cleaning chemicals.
If you are new to E-Cloths I would probably recommend trying out a General Purpose Cloth and a Glass & Polishing Cloth and then, if you’re happy, checking out the various packs available so that you don’t end up with too many of one type of cloth.
The plastic packaging may be recyclable in some areas and the paper insert certainly will.
