Energy Efficient Appliance

If you are looking to buy a new energy efficient appliance for your kitchen, there are a couple of ways to make sure that you are getting a good deal in terms of energy saving. All appliances are now rated using the EU Energy label so it is easy to spot an energy efficient appliance. In addition the Energy Saving Recommended logo from the Energy Saving Trust is applied to certain products.

The EU Energy label helps you to choose an energy efficient appliance by rating it from A to G, with A being the most energy efficient. (The ratings now go up to A++ for refrigerators). At a glance you can therefore see which appliances will use the least energy. The labelling also contains further information including the actual energy consumption of the appliance allowing you to work out the running costs, and the efficiency of the washing, spin and/or drying cycles in the case of washing machines and dishwashers. These are also rated from A to G, again helping you to choose the most energy efficient appliance to meet your personal requirements. For example, if you regularly use a tumble dryer, a more efficient spin cycle will also save you money when drying your laundry.

With regards to the Energy Saving Recommended logo, this is applied only to products which meet strict criteria, which is reassessed every year.

The EU Energy label and the Energy Saving Recommended logo can be found on a number of appliances including:

amongst other products.
