The Good Shopping Guide Ethical Shopping App

The Good Shopping Guide Ethical Shopping App is the iPhone (also suitable for iPad and iTouch) version of The Good Shopping Guide book designed to allow consumers to make ethical shopping choices even whilst shopping in store.

The App is broken down into categories including Good Energy, Good Food & Drink, Good Fashion and Good Home & Office. On the front page there is also a ‘How to use’ button which provides useful information if you are new to the App. Each category has an introduction, editorial and products section. The introduction and editorial sections provide useful background information but it is the products section which is the most valuable source of data on individual product types.

The products section is again broken down into sub-sections with further introductory and editorial information. There is then a summary screen which provides great at-a-glance company listings applicable to the products you are looking at. The ‘Ethical Company’ column lists those which have scored well in the that product sector, the ‘question mark’ column indicates companies with middle scores and the ‘cross’ section shows companies with low scores.

Within the sub-sections is also a ‘Compare’ tab which contains a more detailed comparison table for the companies in the product sector and shows their ethical score. This is great for checking out the separate performance criteria.

All-in-all this is a very thorough product which contains a great deal of information. The information on each category provides good background reading while the summary tables allow you to quickly see which companies to avoid if you are literally in front of a shelf of products. At only £2.99 it is a good buy if you want to shop as ethically as possible.
