Green Living

Green Living

Green living really encompasses many of the topics covered on UK Energy Saving and is about looking at your life and the impact it has on the environment. Green living does not mean shunning modern life or going ‘back to nature’, but is about respecting the planet now and for future generations.

Green living can be a complete lifestyle change but for most people is just about adjusting their everyday life by having consideration for the impact that their activities have on the environment. And in doing so you can often save money; another bonus! So let’s look at some of the different aspects of green living.

Recycle - by recycling as much waste as possible we can reduce the amount of rubbish in land fill sites, lower the requirement for raw materials and the associated activities such as transportation and save energy as recycling products is often more energy efficient than making new. Remember - reduce, reuse, recycle.

Save Water - you can very easily reduce the amount of water you use in the home with simple measures such as not running the tap when brushing your teeth and collecting rainwater for use in the garden. This will save you money too!

Save Energy - reduce the carbon footprint of your home and your energy bills by saving energy. Switch lights off when you leave the room and buy energy efficient appliances.

Transport - do you really need to use the car for that trip to the corner shop or the school run? You could save fuel and get fit by walking and cycling more. And think about environmentally friendly fuels as a great way to reduce carbon emissions

Buy organic - there is now an extensive, and ever-increasing, range of organic products available in the UK, from organic food and organic cotton to organic beer and organic paint

Choose Fairtrade products - Fairtrade mean a better life for producers and there is a large selection of fairtrade products available in many supermarkets and high street shops.

These are just some of the main ways you can make your life ‘green’. Take a look at our Sitemap for lots more suggestions and more information.
