If you are getting married you will be looking forward to one of the best days of your life, but may be concerned about the effect your wedding could have on the environment. If so, why not consider having a green wedding? Like any other wedding, this will be a very special day, but a green wedding means that you have looked at the bigger picture and in the process made your day all the more personal to you.
There are an increasing number of companies offering information and advice on planning a green wedding as well as many which can sell you, or your guests, products and produce which will help to make your wedding more environmentally friendly.
Friends of the Earth offers a number of tips including considering buying antique rings, using recycled paper for the stationery, using local, seasonal and organic food and drink, and putting on a bus to take the guests from the ceremony to the reception. Even these simple measures would make yours a green wedding and there some other ideas you could also consider.
Why not grow your own flowers or make sure they are locally grown? Do you already have everything you need? Then ask your guests to donate money to charity instead of buying you a gift. But if you could do with some new towels or a kettle, there are a number of websites offering green wedding lists where you can choose organic, fairtrade and/or ethical gifts for your guests to buy.
