My Green Directory iPhone App

The My Green Directory iPhone App is a free App based on their online directory of UK companies offering goods and services in the environmental and ethical sectors.

I downloaded the App directly to my iPhone and, on going into the App, was asked if I wanted to provide my location. This allows the App to search for companies within your area (this area is customisable up to 20 miles from your location). Alternatively you can input a location around which you’d like to search. The ‘Near Me’ function is great although the list of locations to select from is limited.

The App also has a simple Listings section allowing you to go through all the categories (including areas such as alternative energy, conservation, food & drink and health & beauty) and filter down to find the companies available. This is easy to use and ultimately provides basic details of the companies usually including web links and phone numbers. There is the facility within the App for reviews to be available, although currently few companies seem to have been reviewed.

The ‘More’ section of this App contains event listings and articles as well as contact details for My Green Directory. There is also a search function.

This App is smart and easy to use. The listings and ‘Near Me’ function are very useful ways of finding green companies, although it’s a shame there isn’t more company information and reviews included. Certainly with regards to the reviews, this will hopefully improve as the App is used more widely.
