nPower Hometeam 50

Having your boiler serviced regularly is an important way of ensuring its efficiency which could save you energy and money. nPower invited us to sample their new Hometeam 50 boiler care package which includes an annual boiler service and our findings are below.

In terms of what the package offers, the nPower website provides information on how Hometeam 50 compares with the British Gas HomeCare Flexi 100 package. According to this information both offer, for example, an annual service, unlimited call outs, a fixed price per repair and a UK call centre, but the nPower Hometeam 50 package also includes a 50% no call out cashback deal for existing nPower gas and electricity customers. For this review nPower serviced our boiler and I was impressed with how this was undertaken. Making an appointment on the phone was straightforward and, whilst only half day slots were available, I was told that the engineer would call 20 minutes before arriving, which he dutifully did. This obviously means that you don’t necessarily have to wait at home for five hours for the engineer to turn up.

The engineer was pleasant and friendly and took about 45 minutes to service the boiler after asking me if there had been any issues with the system. This was the length of time I had been told to expect, so no surprises there. Once completed I was given a copy of the service which showed details of a 30 point check, the results of the service and a printout showing emissions etc which he suggested I keep in order to compare it to future results.

Overall I had no issues with the level of customer service and I was left feeling confident that the boiler had been expertly serviced. Obviously we haven’t tested nPower’s call out service or had to have the boiler repaired, but, given the service received so far, I would feel positive about taking out this cover.
