As more and more people try to eat organically at home, (in fact, according to the Soil Association, three out of four homes buy organic food) it makes sense that they would also like to be able to do so when they eat out. There are therefore increasing numbers of organic restaurants, pubs, wine bars and cafes springing up around the country. And the phenomenon is not just a ‘city thing’, you can find organic restaurants and the like in many places nationwide.
These organic restaurants and cafes etc vary as to whether they offer just a selected number of organic meals or snacks, or whether their whole menu is prepared from organic produce. Either way, the opportunity exists to eat organically away from home, and this trend will probably only increase further as time goes by. Some organic restaurants and other eating places actually have organic certification from the Soil Association either for the whole premises or specific menu items. The Why Organic website from the Soil Association has a directory of organic restaurants and everything organic in the UK and you can also buy the printed directory online.
