Energy saving dishwashers - These use about 22 per cent less energy than energy guzzling models. With one in four households in the UK now owning a dishwasher and each one completing about 250 cycles a year, you could save around £11 a year on your electricity bill if you have an energy saving dishwasher. Energy saving dishwashers use less water too so that ticks another environmentally friendly box.
Energy saving refrigeration - Fridges and freezers are the most hardworking appliances in our kitchens as they are on the go 24 hours a day every day of the year. So, if your fridge or freezer isn't energy efficient, it's costing you a lot more to run that necessary and is contributing to climate change. An energy saving fridge-freezer could save you up to £38 a year on your electricity bill.
Energy saving washing machines - 90 per cent of homes in the UK have a washing machine and 40 per cent have a tumble dryer. Washing machines do, on average, an amazing 274 cycles a year and the amount of wasted electricity from inefficient machines is very high. You could cut this wastage by up to one third by investing in an energy saving washing machine.
Energy efficient boilers - If your boiler is 10 to 15 years old then it probably isn't energy efficient. Replacing your old boiler with a new high efficiency condensing boiler will save you around a quarter on your heating bills. High efficiency condensing boilers convert more than 88% of their fuel into heat, compared to 78% for conventional types. A high efficiency condensing boiler works by recovering as much as possible of the waste heat which is normally sent out into the atmosphere from the flue of a conventional (non-condensing) boiler.
Energy saving light bulbs - Energy saving bulbs work in the same way as fluorescent lights. An electric current passes through gas in a tube, making the tube's coating glow brightly. Traditional bulbs waste a lot of their energy by turning it into heat in the element. Energy saving bulbs can reduce your electricity bill by up to £6 a year each and they last, on average, up to 12 times longer than ordinary light bulbs. CLICK HERE

Cavity wall insulation - Cavity walls that are not insulated cost you money, with up to 33% of the heat produced in your home lost through the walls. Cavity wall insulation is quick, clean and relatively inexpensive and it could save you over £110 on your fuel bills. It will create an even temperature in your home, help prevent condensation on the walls and ceilings and can also reduce the amount of heat building up inside your home during summer hot spells.
Solid Wall Insulation – Sempatap Thermal is thermal insulation on a roll, as easy as wallpaper to apply. It can readily be applied on a DIY basis and dramatically reduces heat loss through solid walls. It can be decorated with virtually anything, emulsion, wallpaper, even tiled and has a life expectancy of 30 years. Sempatap Thermal is approved by the Energy Saving Trust as an energy saving product and is an EST “recommended” product. It is the simple, easy solution for insulating solid wall homes which reduces heating bills and lowers carbon emissions. Application DVD available on request. Loft insulation - If you have not insulated your loft, as much as a third of your heating costs could be escaping through your roof. Loft insulation is a very effective way to reduce your heating bills and by insulating your loft to the recommended depth of 270mm, you can save wasted energy and money. You can even do it yourself by talking to your local DIY store or builders' merchant for details. There could even be grants and offers available to help you pay for loft insulation.
Double glazing - Double glazing is a term used to describe a form of glazing for windows or doors. It consists of two panes of glass enclosing an air space between them. These two panes of glass make up a sealed unit. If you don't already have double-glazing in your home, it's definitely worth thinking about. If you can't afford to replace all the windows, why not choose the rooms that cost you the most to heat? You could reduce heat loss through windows by up to 50%. By trapping air between two panes of glass, double-glazing creates an insulating barrier that reduces heat loss, noise and condensation.
