Welcome to our renewable energy FAQ page where you will hopefully find the answers to many of your questions.
Renewable energy comes from an energy source which does not diminish over time. For example, Solar and Wind power are forms of renewable energy.
There are five main types of renewable energy – Solar Power, Wind Power, hydropower, Biomass and Geothermal Energy, although this is not an exhaustive list.
It is possible to install Solar Power or Wind Power systems in your home, to use Biomass Fuel and to use Geothermal Energy. For more details visit the respective pages of this site.
The costs of installing renewable energy vary greatly but there are incentives such as feed-in tariffs and the Renewable Heat Incentive to help make them more viable.
Sustainable Energy can be used to mean renewable energy but is also about using energy wisely and not wastefully.
Renewable energy will not run out, has much less of an environmental impact than fossil fuels and the fuels themselves are often free!
Check out the Electricity Info www.electricityinfo.org webpages to find out what energy sources your power company uses. Many companies now offer a green tariff ensuring that your power comes from a renewable energy source. Visit our Green Electricity page for more information.
