“How do I sell my mobile phone?” is often asked on the purchase of a new mobile or when an old model is found at the bottom of a drawer. There are a few ways to do this and I definitely prefer to sell my mobile phone rather than have it languish in a drawer or, worse, send it to landfill!
If I were looking to sell my mobile phone I would consider a couple of options. Sites such as Ebay are good options or you could even sell your phone to someone you know is looking for one. Obviously if I was to sell my mobile phone in this way it would have to be in reasonable condition. Probably the most hassle free way to sell my mobile phone, however, has been to use a mobile resale company which will give you a fair price for a relatively up to date model in good condition. The phones they buy are then often sold into developing countries where they are in high demand due to the high prices of new phones. Those which cannot be sold on are Recycled.
Some mobile resale sites give some of the money on offer to you to charity, but if you want to donate it may be better to sell the phone for the best price and then donate some or all of the cash yourself as the charity will then be able to claim tax back too.
If I have had to sell my mobile phone in a damaged condition, some mobile resale sites will still pay a reduced price so it is worth checking whether you could get something. And if not, it is still worth recycling your phone for environmental reasons.
