If you have an indoor or outdoor swimming pool, whether at your home or workplace, it is no doubt costing you a significant amount to heat and in the process using a great deal of power. Solar swimming pool heating could, however, offer you a solution which, once installed, will provide you with free water heating without using power derived from fossil fuels. Solar swimming pool heating need not be an expensive option in the first instance and will start saving you money as soon as it is fitted.
There are basically two options when it comes to solar swimming pool heating. The first is solar matting which can be used for heating an outdoor pool during the summer months. The matting is linked to your filtration system and filtered water passed through the matting which is heated by the sun’s rays. This type of solar swimming pool heating can be installed anywhere in close proximity to the pool, whether it be an area of lawn or the roof of the house, as long as it is south facing in order to capture as much of the sun’s energy as possible. The solar matting can also be installed yourself saving the cost of a professional installer.
The second type of solar swimming pool heating is evacuated tubing which is usually combined with a domestic hot water heating system. This is the more expensive option but is designed for indoor or outdoor pools all year round as it does not require the intensity of the summer sun to heat the tubes and therefore the water.
