The Taptu Environment iPhone & iPad App (powered by the Guardian) is a free app offering environmental news streams. We downloaded this onto an iPhone simply by searching for it within the Apps feature.
The Taptu App contains over 20 news streams, many of which relate to environmental sections and columns of The Guardian, but also other relevant blogs and news sites. You can select the streams which you are interested in viewing (literally adding them from a list which includes an image and brief description) and these are then added to your personal streams list. You can also mix and colour code streams for a more personalised feel.
The news is refreshed by pulling down on the screen as with many Apps. To view the individual news items, which are usually shown with an image, headline and sometimes a brief introduction, simply touch the image to go through to the item.
This is a very simple App but a great way to easily keep up to date with environmental news. The articles are shown within the App but you have the option to view them on the web if you wish. I’ll certainly be keeping this App on my iPhone!
