In October of last year we reviewed the Tefal Quick Cup Water Dispenser which has now been upgraded to the new Tefal Quick Cup Deluxe Water Dispenser. Tefal have taken the key features of the Tefal Quick Cup and tried to improve on them with some new features and different styling.
The Tefal Quick Cup Deluxe has a slightly larger water tank than its predecessor at 1.7 litres and is generally a larger appliance, although it still doesn’t have a much larger footprint than many kettles. The manufacturer claims that the product still uses about one third of the energy of a kettle but this new version is much quicker at dispensing the hot water which is virtually instantaneous. It is still not boiling water but, to be honest, we still found it fine for making a cup of tea as well as coffee.
The standard cup fill for hot water is 220ml but this is adjustable to suit your usual cup/mug size. The new adjustable tap means you can make it higher for taller mugs although it would still not fit very large mugs. Spitting was a problem with the original Quick Cup but this has improved as promised with the Tefal Quick Cup Deluxe.
The Tefal Quick Cup Deluxe also dispenses ambient as well as hot water so can be used for filtered water as Tefal recommend using a Claris water filter (one comes with the product), especially if you live in a hard water area. A cartridge change indicator lets you know when this needs changing (after about 50 litres of water) and there is also a descaling indicator (this needs doing after about 500 cycles).
At £69.99 (£79.99 for stainless steel model), the Tefal Quick Cup Deluxe is more expensive than the original Quick Cup but you have the option of dispensing ambient water as well as the other new features. The Claris water filters are available for about £5 each. The cardboard box in which the product comes is recyclable.
