If you are considering improving your home’s insulation or heating you may be eligible for a Warm Deal Scheme grant. The Warm Deal Scheme is designed to assist people in Scotland in making their home warmer and more energy efficient. There are similar schemes in England, Northern Ireland and Wales; click through to the relevant page for more details.
The Warm Deal Scheme is aimed at people who are in receipt of income-based benefits and the over 60s. If eligible, you could receive a grant of up to £500 towards the cost of insulating your home. If you are aged over 60 and not in receipt of income related benefits you could still receive a grant of up to £125. This could include cavity wall insulation, loft insulation, hot and cold tank and pipe insulation, draught-proofing and advice on energy efficiency. Households with children with disabilities and in receipt of the Disability Living Allowance can also receive a grant of up to £500 for insulation.
In addition to the Warm Deal Scheme householders aged 60 or over may also be eligible for a central heating system if they do not have one. This includes the central heating system, insulation and a carbon monoxide detector along with additional advice. This package is also available to the over 80s as well as over 60s who are in receipt of the guaranteed element of Pension Credit with a partial or inefficient central heating system.
