As the toilets in your home or business no doubt get regular use, this is a good place to look at saving water. An excellent way to save water and money is by installing a water saving hippo device in your toilet cisterns. In a large cistern with a flush capacity of nine litres or greater, you can save up to three litres of water with each flush when using a water saving hippo device!
The water saving hippo device is made from durable heavy gauge polyethylene and takes on an open ended box shape when opened out for insertion in a cistern. The water saving hippo device simply sits under the large cistern float and the water contained inside is saved when the toilet is flushed. A small hole ensures that water circulates in order to avoid stagnation. By using the hippo you could save up to £25 a year off your water bill! And the hippo is designed to last a lifetime so you will quickly get your money back for the investment. In fact they are very cheap to start with at under £9 for three (including P&P) or less if you buy in bulk for your business.
The water saving hippo device works best in larger cisterns but can also be used in those with a smaller capacity. Most cisterns fitted after 1992 are designed to use less water but the hippo can still help you to save more. Cisterns from 2001 onwards will probably have a 6 litre volume which shouldn’t be reduced further. Alternatively the Save-a-Flush device works in a similar way to the hippo saving 1 litre of water per flush and costing under £1.44 each (plus P&P).
