Montague Paratrooper 24 Speed Folding Electric Bike

The Montague Paratrooper 24 Speed Folding Electric Bike really is the ultimate electric bike and uses PUMA motor controller, Motor and Infineon Controller. This really is an electric bike in the true sense of the word as you don't even need to pedal. The Paratrooper is tough, rugged and ready for anything. This bike was the first of the Montague range and is used daily by the US Military. The Paratrooper comes equipped with adjustable preload front suspension, front disc with dualpad adjustment, 24 speed SRAM X5 derailleur and shifters, double wall rims and knobbly tyres. Team Hybrid can supply different size batteries for your requirements. The one we tested was very powerful and reached speeds of 23mph (The road legal limit is 15mph). This bike is tremendous to ride and without the battery is as good as any bike I have ridden with the added advantage of being foldable for transporting. It was also great to have a side stand when parking the bike.

The bike was tested on a 7.1 mile circuit (see graph at bottom of page) through the countryside with stretches of relatively flat roads but also many small hills, gentle inclines and two quite steep hills to test the performance of the bike over three different terrains. The conditions were quite good with moderate winds and dry road surface and little traffic to slow down the rider. We managed 13 miles on a full battery but this would be dramatically increased on flat terrain such as commuting to work.

The twist grip control for the power is very easy to use when riding. The gears are excellent even when not using the electric power. The braking system was also as good with a disc brake on the front wheel. From a Green perspective it was also good to see the large cardboard box the bike was delivered in was recyclable.

The bike can certainly fill all the categories of Commuter, Recreational and Comfortable electric bike. The Montague Paratrooper 24 Speed Folding Electric Bike folds to 36" x 28" x 12" and Team Hybrid do supply a free carry bag. It is available in 18" and 20" frame sizes.
