Until February 2010 the Low Carbon Buildings Programme, managed by the Energy Saving Trust, offered wind power grants towards the cost of installing wind turbines for homes and businesses in the UK. These have since been withdrawn due to the introduction of feed-in tariffs from April 2010. The Energy Saving Scotland Home Renewables Grant Scheme is still available in Scotland, offering wind power grants to homeowners and community projects. These grants are worth up to a limit of £4,000 or 30% of the total cost. Non-profit community organisations such as registered charities and schools can also apply for wind power grants. Community projects in Scotland should contact the Communities and Renewable Energy Scheme (CARES).
Wind power grants may also be available in your local area so take a look at www.est.org.uk for information on the schemes mentioned above as well as others which may be applicable in your location. Some energy supply companies also offer wind power grants as does the www.triodos.co.uk
The RenewableUK has all the latest information on the variety of wind power grants available so take a look at their website at www.RenewableUK.com
